It all started with my making a wire crown to be worn in a ritual, symbolising the element fire. It was fun, and fairly simple to make somehting pretty, if not perfect. So somehow I ended up making a crown for each of the elements. And then you need to make outfits, and take photos. Obviously. The water element was the first of these photo sessions, done by a cabin in Dalsland in Sweden in September 2020.
I made the dress cut as a 1930s dress, wih the skirt cut on the bias. It is a viscose satin, and is embroidered with glass beads at the openings on the arms. I also sewed glass beads on the wide trim that I use as a belt, It is backed with some cotton remnant. The cloak is my husband's semicircular wool cloak, that I borrowed for the shoot.
